Whistle-Stop Bistro in McAlester

The food was delicious! I had the chicken salad sandwich, homemade potato salad and taco soup! 🤤 The area is cool, there are a bunch of antique shops around.

The Bistro has wonderfully, tasty food with healthy options. Good portion sizes... I usually take leftovers with me. The staff is amazing! They are personable and helpful. It feels like going to the house of a friend.

My wife and I went in a couple of times after it was under new ownership and could not get waited on. We will not go back and it is not like what it was with the prior owners.

I had much higher hope's from the reviews I read. We were passing through and had never been to McAlester. Our server was slow to come and take our drink order, and the food was just average. The taco soup was very good and the highlight of our lunch there.

Yum! We were so glad to find this wonderful place. What a great menu with so many unique options, it was very hard to pick! Keep up the good work. We will be back with more family!

Great restaurant! Stopped on our way to Texas. So nice to have a healthy lunch on the road. Meals were homemade and fresh. Great sandwiches and salads. Friendly staff. Hope we get to go again someday. Great little hidden treasure.

Located in heart of historic North town. Trendy moderately priced meals. Vegetarian or what pleases you....nice antique shops surround it....

so sad, our lunch was nothing like expected☹... when it was owned by the two guys it was absolutely great. The food was excellent, the restaurant was decorated and made you feel welcome. We usually went 3 times weekly just to be sure we would get the Blue Plate Special. The place was always full of people and often you had to wait in line to get a seat. Don't know what happened, but we wont be back😢 we dont have a lot of choices here in McAlester, now one more less ( at least for us. )

Just ate my last meal at the Bistro.....server informed me there were no substitutions on the daily special. You have got to be kidding me. Switching out a cup of soup for a salad would cost them absolutely nothing. Not doing so has cost them a long time customer. New ownership needs to be reminded that customer service is equally important as the quality of the food. Very disappointed

Fantastic change of pace eatery! The staff was friendly and the waiter we had was awesome! Atmosphere was incredible and the food was even better!

An historical site but it lacks the historical touches. It's old and lack of any upkeep. The sandwich is nothing special and the bun is getting to the point of stale. The roast beef is like the kind you get at supermarket.

The food was great! We had the French Dive and a Reuben. Personally we thought the Dive was the better of the two but they were both good! Let it be known though that the women who own the place both seem genuinely friendly. Although it was our first visit there we didn't feel out of place. We'll be back!

Amazing food with friendly people

I work just down the road and love grabbing lunch here. Their French Dive is always delicious, and the staff are great.

Chicken salad sandwich on a croissant was delicious as was the Chicken Tortilla soup! Our server Bree was precious.

It is a quaint spot with a fair amount of character. However, the food feels like it's from Great value. Ordered chips and salsa, and it was legitimately Pace picante sauce with some of the cheapest corn chips you can find. The sandwich was salvageable, however the portions didn't fair with the price and the quality was negligible. our waitress must have had a rough day, because she had no personality until it was time to bring us the check. It really wasn't great ... and I wanted it to be

Almost every time me and my husband are in town we always call in sandwiches. The staff has always been very polite and have made sure we were taken care of promptly. The food is always good!

I love this place. The food it's always great! They no longer carry my favorite thing in the world, and I wish they would bring it back - Italian creme cake! YUM!! The service is always up to par. Definitely recommend this place!

Get the red light trio with potatoe salad! It was amazing! My girlfriend got the depot dip with pepperjack and we split a piece of lemon creme cake! All for about 25 dollars after tax 10/10 will dine again!

A different environment but great food

One of my fav restaurants in mcalester, Ok sandwiches are good.. paninis are awesome ..they gotta improve on there sides options..trio and the bistro fave are my regular food i usually buy. The servers are great..they know what they are doing. The ambience is little old fashioned
